1. If you are the first buyer of the flat, the count for the Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) begins from the date you officially purchased it.
2. If ownership of the flat changes hands, the MOP starts afresh from the date the transfer is confirmed, or from the moment the new owner was first recognised as an authorised occupier.
3. If only part of the ownership is sold or transferred, all owners must complete a brand-new MOP, beginning from the date that partial resale took effect.
4. HDB must be informed of any intention to rent out your flat, and approval has to be granted before you proceed.
5. Even after the MOP is met, HDB may impose certain restrictions on how and who you rent to, so compliance with their guidelines remains important.
